Letters from The Desk

Hello, my name is Joseph Williams and I am the President & CEO of Anchor Advisors, we get a lot of questions about our company's history, what makes us unique, and general curiosity questions... I try to address some of those here, if you have any questions, please let me know... I might add your question below, thank you for your interest.

Why the Web Address "Retirevibe.com"?

The term "vibe" is short for "vibration" and refers to being in tune, in sync, or in harmony with something - generally a concept or thought.  Thus, you may be familiar with the term "do you catch my vibe"?  Retirevibe is a term we use to refer to our focus on understanding and being in sync with the retirement needs of our clients... we hope to catch your retirevibe.

Why the Word "Anchor"?

It is hard to explain "why" the name Anchor without sharing some testimony, because it really feels like the name was just meant for us.  It has been more than a decade now when Christine (my wife) and I were trying to come up with a name for our company.  Honestly, I was looking for a name that started with "A" because I wanted to be listed first in the phone book - that was when people still used those things.  Christine came in to the office one morning seeming somewhat excited and said... How about "Anchor"? - she pointed out that since I was in the Navy it seemed to fit and she really seemed to like that in her research she discovered that an anchor is a symbol of Hope... when I looked up "Anchor" in the phone book, it looked like we would probably be listed first... so "Anchor" it was!  Little did I know at the time how meaningful our name and the hope it represents would mean to us.

After years of struggling to have children we were losing hope and started looking into adoption - we kept running into roadblocks there as well... after finally accepting the idea that maybe being parents was not right for us, we had a pregnancy that seemed to be working.  We were told we would have a girl and we named her Hope.  About 5 months into the pregnancy, a sickness I was struggling with was diagnosed as cancer - we were both sick 24 / 7 for the next few months - we understood hope in a whole new way.  There are so many things in this world we take for granted... that we just don't have any control over... it can be easy to allow the seas of doubt to sweep one away, but the anchor of hope that held us fast was our faith in Jesus Christ.  Even though chaos seemed to abound, our God was in control, and we could trust him with the things too big for us to understand.

Hope was born a few months later, and she is one of the great joys of our lives - I never could imagine... never knew just how perfect the "Anchor" name would be for us - or how thankful we would be for the blessing of being anchored.

What's the Deal with the Logo?

First, the logo looks a little like an anchor and a little like a person so it seemed to fit with the name "Anchor Advisors".  Second, we think "Anchor" stands for so much more than a cold picture of an anchor... and for that matter, when we think of a financial consultant, we think of confidant and friend - not just a person that advises on business.  For this reason, we wanted something a little less serious and a little more bright and whimsical.  Third, we were drawn by the feeling of victory the image conveyed, which is what we want people to feel as they prepare a workable strategy for retirement.

Are You Anchored?

We would love the opportunity to get to know you.  Please contact us today at (972) 881-9393 to schedule an appointment for a no cost or obligation initial consultation.  Thank you for your visit!
